Love and Haight

"We're crazy about this city. First time we came here, we walked the streets all day, all over town and nobody hassled us. People smiled, friendly-like, and we knew we could live here. We'd like to keep our place in Greenwich Village and have an apartment here, God and the Immigration Service willing. Los Angeles? That's just a big parking lot where you buy a hamburger for the trip to San Francisco."
-John Lennon

I had the pleasure of spending this last weekend in glorious San Francisco as a vendor for Krochet Kids at the Treasure Island music festival. The view of the bay was gorgeous, the weather was a comfortable chill (minus the rain on Sunday), and the music was bitchin. Superior to Coachella in every way. We sold out of hats and took turns catching the sets of bands we wanted to see. Phosphorescent was the pleasant surprise, Ra Ra Riot the rainy delight, She and Him the sweet sing-a-long, LCD Soundsystem the dance party starter, and The National took the cake for all-around mind-blowing amazing band. Highly recommend them if you haven't given them a listen. Lead singer Matt Berninger has incredible stage presence and effortless rapport with the crowd.

Stoked we got to catch Matt Costa at Slim's on Friday nt before the festival.

Blue Bottle in Hayes Valley served up the best mocha I have ever had. Period. They brew each cup to order. Thank you AJ for the tip.

Beloved Haight and Ashbury, a world all it's own.

I love buying vinyl appropriate to the city I travel in, so I picked up Boxer by The National and some other sweet scores at the world famous Amoeba.

The Booksmith was a true gem that I have somehow missed on previous visits. So glad I decided to pop into this place! Besides tons of books, they carry an impressive line of stationary, postcards, calendars and cards for all occasions. Not only a few brands, but several; my fave of which is The Great Lakes Goods. The merch is original and the staff is friendly, two thumbs up.

Golden Gate Park.

"Leaving San Francisco is like saying goodbye to an old sweetheart. You want to linger as long as possible."
-Walter Cronkite
